Plans prepared in-house
Instaquipt prepares Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and Traffic Management Plans (TMP) in-house, under SA Traffic Management Designer licence 184-959. Our team includes a TC3/TMI3 accredited senior traffic management designer, so design is done by someone who also understands how a work zone is run on the ground.
We prepare plans for jobs across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, including at short notice.
TGS or TMP — which do you need?
The two terms get used loosely, so in plain terms:
- A Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS) is the layout drawing for the work zone. It shows where each sign, cone and device goes, how traffic and pedestrians move past the work, and how the site is set up.
- A Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is the wider document. It sets out how traffic, pedestrians and the work will be managed over the life of the job, and usually includes or refers to the schemes it relies on.
Smaller, short-duration jobs often only need a scheme. Larger or longer works are usually asked for a full plan. If you are not sure what your principal contractor or road authority has asked for, send us what you have been given and we will tell you what fits.
What we need from you
The more we know up front, the faster we can price and prepare the plan. A useful brief covers:
- The site address and the exact extent of the work
- What work is being done, and what plant or vehicles will be on site
- Which lanes, shoulders, footpaths or bike lanes will be affected
- The dates, and whether work is day, night or weekend
- Any requirements already set by your principal contractor
Send it through the enquiry form on this page, email [email protected], or call 0424 325 115. We will come back to you with a price.
Design and crew from one place
Because we also supply the traffic control crews, the scheme we draw is the scheme our people set up. There is no gap between the designer's intent and what goes on the road. Our crews install the work zone to the scheme and record it with prestart and daily site inspection records, plus digital dockets, timesheets and site photos.
Our crews work from our own fleet of nine Tier 1 compliant 2025 Mitsubishi Triton traffic utes, fitted with roof-mounted arrow boards, beacons and work lighting, and carrying cones, signage and stands. Our equipment also includes Arrowes EStop portable traffic signals.
Supporting documents
A plan is only one part of what a principal contractor checks. We also hold Safe Work Method Statements for traffic control, a work zone traffic management (WZTM) procedure, heat management and wellbeing plans, 27 documented company policies, $20 million public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. They are written, current and ready to submit with the plan.
